About NICHE

Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE) began its journey in 1989 as an Engineering College, inspired by a visionary commitment to emerge as a distinguished centre of excellence in higher education, grounded in uncompromising standards of discipline, ethics, and academic rigor. From its inception, the institution has remained steadfast in its pursuit of quality education and holistic development.

This commitment was nationally recognized in 2006, when the institution was ranked 19th Best Engineering College by Anna University. Building on this momentum, NICHE received National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation in 2007 and was recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) in 2008. The institution also achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification, reaffirming its adherence to global quality standards.

A defining milestone in NICHE’s growth came in 2008, when it was conferred the status of Deemed-to-be-University. Further strengthening its academic standing, NICHE was awarded Grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2015 and was re-accredited by NAAC in 2022, underscoring its sustained excellence in higher education.

NICHE’s academic and institutional strength has been consistently reflected in national rankings. In the NIRF Rankings 2016, the University secured the 66th rank in the Engineering category and the 75th rank in the University category, reaffirming its position among India’s leading higher education institutions.

Today, NICHE comprises 11 faculties and 25 departments, offering a comprehensive portfolio of 33 undergraduate, 22 postgraduate, and doctoral research programs across Engineering, Arts, Science, and Management disciplines. All academic programs are duly approved by relevant statutory and regulatory bodies, including the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), University Grants Commission (UGC), Director General of Shipping (DGS), and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

NICHE is also an active member of several prestigious national and international academic bodies such as the International Association of Universities (IAU), Association of Indian Universities (AIU), National Academic Depository (NAD), and the National Digital Library of India (NDL)—reflecting its strong global and national academic engagement.

At NICHE, education is viewed as a transformative force—one that not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures critical thinking, analytical ability, and a deeper understanding of the world. Exposure to diverse perspectives, cultures, and ideas enables students to broaden their horizons and evolve into responsible global citizens.

As a beacon of collaborative learning and innovation, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education draws upon best practices from around the world to create an ecosystem that fosters creativity, research, and societal relevance. The University is committed to empowering students with the freedom, resources, and opportunities to apply their knowledge meaningfully—shaping them into competent professionals and conscientious contributors to society.
