District-Level Agriculture Machinery Mela Empowers Local Farmers at NICHE Campus

The Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE) hosted a District-Level Agriculture Machinery Mela in collaboration with the Kanyakumari District Government Machinery and the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Engineering Department. This one-day event aimed to introduce the farming community to the latest advancements in agricultural mechanization, covering topics such as field preparation, operation, maintenance, smart technology, and man-less agriculture solutions for 2025–2026.

The mela was inaugurated by NICHE dignitaries, including Dr. K. A. Janardhanan (Pro Vice-Chancellor), Dr. A. Shajin Nargunam (Registrar), Dr. P. Thirumalvalavan, and officials from the Agricultural Engineering Department. Led by Mr. Krishnamoorthi, Superintendent Engineer, and supported by Mr. Jerold, Executive Engineer, the event showcased cutting-edge machinery and tools from over 20 renowned agro-equipment companies such as Mahindra, Honda, VST, Kirloskar, Cub Cadet, and STIHL.

With participation from more than 200 local farmers, agricultural societies, and self-help groups, the mela provided invaluable exposure to new technologies and trends in modern agriculture. Attendees benefitted from hands-on demonstrations and expert guidance, equipping them to adopt innovative solutions that will drive efficiency and productivity in the coming years.
