NICHE Biomedical Engineering Students Gain Hands-On Insights at SCTIMST on IEEE Day 2025

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at NICHE organized a one-day industrial visit to the Biomedical Technology Wing, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, aligning with the celebration of IEEE Day 2025. Recognized as an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India, SCTIMST is renowned for pioneering work in biomedical research, clinical sciences, and advanced medical technology.

During the visit, students explored a range of laboratories and research divisions specializing in biomaterials, tissue engineering, medical device development, and technology transfer. This immersive experience offered practical exposure to medical device design, biocompatibility testing, and translational research, deepening students’ appreciation for the convergence of engineering principles with healthcare innovation. The initiative greatly enhanced professional growth and technical awareness among participants, preparing them for impactful careers in biomedical engineering.
