AVID - PATENT 

AVID stands for Artificial Visual Implant Device, a visual device for blind people.  AVID does the function of human eye in an artificial manner. The signals generated by the artificial vision device are carried to the visual cortex by optic nerve.  As a result of doing research far more than three years we have derived a solution for developing an Artificial Eye. A working prototype model has been proposed and under design. We are in the process of developing a bio compatible artificial eye that can be implanted in the Human eye cavity.

Bionic Cavity

Eye movement is the voluntary or involuntary movement of the eyes, helping in acquiring, fixating and tracking visual stimuli. Each eye has six extraocular muscles (EOM) that bring about the various eye movements. When the muscles exert differential tensions (contractions in synergistic muscles and relaxation of antagonist muscles), a torque is exerted on the globe that causes it to turn. This is an almost pure rotation, with only about one millimeter of translation (Carpenter, 1988).

To perform the above function we have designed a special eye movement the cavity. The cavity contains a hole and a small hole-clip at the center of the hole for fixing. With the help of the specially designed eye cavity AVID movement can also be controlled by the brain as the normal eye etc…

 

Sun Tracker Device (STD)

STD has a rotating solar mount fixed with arrays of solar energy converters. The device is designed such that solar cells on the rotating solar mount will be always directly face the sun to receive maximum solar energy per unit area of the arrays for 10 hrs in a day. The solar mount is solely driven by gravity using hydrostatic force for tracking the sun. The Intellectual Property India (IP), Govt. of India has granted patent (No: 251549, Dated: July, 2012) to this invention. Inventor: Dr. N.Chandrashekhar Assignee: Noorul Islam University
